Emoticons quickly and everywhere😃👍

Computer tips
It is easy how to make your titles awesome. Just put in them emoticons. How to do it?🤔 If you write text on Microsoft Windows you can put in your text different emoji by keyboard shortcut Win + . (dot). You will get a new window where you can choose emoticons and insert them into your text. It works thanks to Unicode. Unicode is with use since 1991 and is evolving and enriching. In 2020 there was published already version 13. Unicode was designed to allow computer users use other than English characters and to ensure that character written in one system (for example Linux) will show up on other system as the same character. Unicode is expanded through the new version with new characters, symbols and languages. For each…

What can computer security experts gain from pilots?

Computer tips
At the first sight computer systems and flying are completely different areas. Even though computer security experts can learn something from pilots. Computer security is quite young if you compare it with flying and therefore it is a normal state that government is in state of establishing institutions for fighting the cybercrime. The primary target is to secure government and other state institutions such as healthcare. It is not like in flying that investigation of the accident will help all other pilots to avoid such circumstances. It is partly understandable because the results from investigation can reveal the hole to other hackers but in my opinion there must be in future stronger role of the government in fighting the hackers and helping outside of the government. The second inspiring area…

Network attackers

Computer tips
As you know there are some attackers that may try to break into your network. Although they might use for their attack infected computers from over the world (and it is the most often strategy) sometimes you may encounter attack from multiple computers in one network. I collect the IP address of these attackers and I would like to share the top eleven networks, where there were at least 8 attacks from different computers. I’m just curious if these are broken networks or these networks are owned by some hackers. 185.222.209.X (Netherlands) 21 attacking computers 91.200.12.X (Ukraine) 21 attacking computers 37.49.224.X (Netherlands) 20 attacking computers 141.98.80.X (Belgium) 12 attacking computers 222.52.118.X (China) 12 attacking computers 157.122.148.X (China) 11 attacking computers 185.234.217.X (Ireland) 11 attacking computers 37.49.226.X (Germany) 10 attacking computers…

Creating PDF forms

Computer tips
PDF files are not only for reading documents. We can also create forms that users can fill in on their computers and send it back. How we can create such forms? There are very good professional software tools, where you can create these forms. Unfortunately they are quite expensive. Luckily there are even free tolls. I don’t recommend just search on internet for “free PDF forms”. The result would be tools which are not completely free or might come from suspicious sources. You better take package of office software tools called Libre Office. Part of this package is text editor LibreOffice Writer, which is similar to popular application Microsoft Word. With the Writer you can easily create forms, which can be exported to PDF. You can find detailed guide for…

Notebook with Windows 10 and 32 GB storage

Computer tips
Is 32 GB of storage enough for notebook with Windows 10? I had recently in my hand notebook designed for basic use. It means just browsing on the internet and some basic work. I estimated that 32 GB of storage might be enough for such purpose. The notebook came with about 8 GB of free space on hard drive which should be enough for basic. Unfortunately there wasn’t installed the fall update of Windows 10 and it wasn’t possible to install it without moving some of the files from the computer to external storage. And it was situation might be worse if the computer is not new and clean. When there would be some user files then it might be a nightmare. So the conclusion is: don’t buy a notebook…

DXF files in Mozila Thunderbird

Computer tips
If you are using great free email client Mozila Thunderbird it might happen that you will have problem with opening DXF files attached to your email messages. The problem has its origin not on your side but on the side of the sender. If there is a computer with Mozila Thunderbird and there is not good CAD software then Thunderbird doesn’t know what type of file is DXF. It looks into file and assumes that it might be a text file (that’s what it really is). Thunderbird sends the file as Content-Type: text/plain and that is what we have to change. Open Registry editor by pressing Win + R and type regedit. Find section HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.dxf and in the right window (if there is not) add string entry with name Content…

What are limits of AI and deep learning?

Computer tips
I was testing AI (artificial intelligence) and deep learning for one project and during that time I was thinking where we can use AI and were are limits of this technology. At first we must tell what AI is but don’t worry – we won’t talk about complicated mathematical formulas. We can say in general that the core of deep learning is statistics and calculating probability that some of known events would occur. We better explain that on example. You can imagine receptionist at a company seeing Mr. Jones come to work every morning. Every day Mr. Jones comes at 7 o’clock but on Tuesdays he comes at 8 o’clock because he takes his son to school. One day somebody ask the receptionist at 7:30: “Is Mr. Jones already here?”…

How to find a file in Windows

Computer tips
Do you need quickly find a file in your computer? I do it often and there are better tools than what you can find built in in Windows. I use tool Everything from David Carpenter. It is very fast and your computer doesn't spend too much time and resources on indexing your files. This method will work only if you well organized your data on your disc. It means that your folder must have good structure and good names. The same is with names of files. For example all photos I have in directory Photo. This directory has subfolders by year and these have subfolders with different events. For example I have folder called 1810 Alps. When I search folder from Alps, I just write alps. If there are more Alps…
